SUMMARY:September's short notice gathering\, time to Improvise
LOCATION:c-base Raumstation\, Rungestrasse 20\, (2nd backyard)\, Berlin
DESCRIPTION:Hi all visionaries\, summer is over and a new hacking winter is going to start. Here in Berlin we are out of a burst of international technology conferences and right in the middle of the elections\, quite a good moment for visualisations!\n\nI must apologise as organiser\, this meeting comes with a ridiculously short notice. I've been trying to get in touch with people from C-Base since a couple of weeks\, but time passed and just one hour ago i had the reply that the 23rd has been reserved for us\, so it's take it or leave it. They decided the calendar on the 14th\, probably it will be like this also on the next months\, so we will know the precise date on the 14th. C-Base is a little bit a complex place for me and i still have to completely realise how does it work.\n\nIn the meantime people kept joining the group! I'm curious to see the new faces!\n\nAbout the plan for the meeting\, given the short notice\, we can just improvise. Many of you already know C-Base: there are tables\, connectivity\, beers\, a beamer and an audio system. Kamikaze talkers can propose themselves\, but i guess there will be no presentations this time\, so it's just time for hacking and telling. If somebody found some interesting vis about politics on the web i would be happy to see it and talk about it\, i'm not in German newspapers and saw incredibly few interesting visualisations\, with the exception of this http://www.zeit.de/politik/deutschland/wahlland by Moritz Stefaner. Also Gregor Aisch published yesterday an interesting visual analysis of poll biases http://vis4.net/blog/posts/analyzing-bias-in-election-polls-with-r/.\n\nPost Scriptum:\n\nSomebody remembers a not-too-old visualisation toolkit\, Improvise? http://www.cs.ou.edu/~weaver/improvise/examples.html
